Membership Rules Permanent residents
of, or property owners in, the Sullivan West School District are eligible to
become members of the Western Sullivan Public Library. An application must
be completed and two forms of identification presented. The ID must contain
the applicant’s signature and local address. All children under
the age of 16 must have the signature of a parent or legal guardian on the application
form. Parent or guardian will be
responsible for materials
borrowed by children. Members are required
to notify the Western Sullivan Public Library of changes in name, address, or
telephone number. Borrowers will be
responsible for returning all books on time.
If books or any
other material, excluding videos, are returned late, a fine of ten cents per
day will be charged for
each item. Two dollars per day will be
charged for each late video. Books that are not
in high demand may be renewed for two weeks either by telephone
or by using iPac on the Internet. Borrowing privileges
will be suspended if materials are not returned and/or fines remain unpaid. If a person who does
not live in the Sullivan West District wants to obtain a library card, he/she must go to
the library serving the district in which they pay taxes. After obtaining a
library card from their “home library” they are eligible for direct
access. Direct Access: A patron
holding a library card with valid direct access privileges, from
any other library belonging to the Ramapo Catskill Library System will
be entitled to borrow materials from the Western Sullivan Public Library. Temporary residents
of the Western Sullivan Public Library district are eligible for
limited borrowing privileges upon payment of the required fee. Any out-of-state
residents will be required to pay the membership fees set by the Board of
Trustees before obtaining full library privileges. The membership year
runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. Fees will be
prorated according to the month the patron applies for a library card. |
