LIBRARY CARD POLICY

How To Obtain A Library Card

 

The requirements are listed in the first column, followed by a checkmark in the resident and/or non-resident column.

 

REQUIREMENTS

RESIDENT

NON-RESIDENT

Orangeburg resident living in South Orangetown School District may apply for a library card.

ü      

 

Show proof of residency with a driver's license or current utility bill.  Parent or guardian will show proof for children under 18.

ü      

 

Those who do not reside at a permanent residence in the South Orangetown school district, but are living in the hamlets of Orangeburg or Sparkill are entitled to a temporary library card with limited privileges.

 

ü      

Non-residents who are employed in the hamlets of Orangeburg or Sparkill are entitled to a temporary library card with limited privileges.

 

ü      

Temporary residents must provide both a permanent address and phone along with a local address and phone.

 

ü      

Non-residents who are employed in Orangeburg or Sparkill must provide both home address and phone and business address and phone.

 

ü      

Show either an employee or student identification.

 

ü      

Show a driver's license as second form of identification.

 

ü      

A Post Office Box is not an acceptable address.

ü      

ü      

Must be physically present in the library when applying

ü      

ü

Circulation Desk.

Each patron is encouraged to have his/her own library card.

ü      

ü      

All ages are eligible to get a library card.

ü      

ü      

Sparkill residents are welcome

 

 

A temporary library card is only valid for use in the Orangeburg Library.

 

ü      

The first library card is free. Replacement card is $3.00.

ü      

ü      

Once a card is identified as lost, it is NO LONGER VALID.

ü      

ü      

Must agree to responsibilities of cardholders, including fine schedule.

ü      

ü      

Cardholders are entitled to benefits including Internet access, borrowing privileges at 52 libraries in the Ramapo Catskill Library System, and voting in our trustees' election.
