DeWint House, Tappan

The DeWint House is the oldest surviving home in Rockland County built in 1700 by Daniel De Clark. The house served as Washington's headquarters four times during the Revolutionary War. It was here that Washington met the British Commander Sir Guy Carleton in 1783. Washington lived here during the trial and hanging of Major John Andre.
