Old First Methodist Church

In 1820, the closet Methodist Church was located in Sugar Loaf. At the time, this church serviced 15 different villages and hamlets. Since most of the Methodist population in Greenwood Lake lived out near Old Dutch Hollow Road, they decided to build their won church closer to home. In 1821, the First Methodist Church in the Greenwood Lake Valley was built. It served the congregation until 1888 when the second Methodist Church was built closer to town on Jersey Avenue (site #2).
