"The Stone House"

This stone shell was the beginning of a house intended to be built in the early 1930's. The house was never completed, and the shell still stands today at the top left corner of Trout Road and 7th Road in Wah-Ta-Wah Park in Greenwood Lake. It is known today as "the stone house". In 1937 the Malverne Building Company began clearing lots in what would be known as Wah-Ta-Wah Park, a private summer bungalow colony. When it came time to put in an entrance road off of Edgemere Avenue, the owner realized a curved road would make three lots unable to be built upon. As a result, the entrance road in very steep, narrow, and goes straight up the hill. You have to blow your car horn now when you go up the hill because those coming down can't see those coming up.
