Greenwood Lake Public Library

What is the library today, back in 1880, was once a humble one room stone building, home of Greenwood Lake's first schoolhouse. In 1932, 5 years after the Elementary/Middle school was opened across the street (see site 1), the school house was renovated into the Greenwood Lake Library and established by Miss Jenny Waterstone. Miss Waterstone donated over 700 books from her private collection to start the library. The back end of the library was the Greenwood Lake Village Recreation Hall. The new addition that you see in the picture was completed in 1997. Another addition was recently completed in May 2002.
