Press Releases

To help promote library-related events as they are observed and celebrated, RCLS distributes press releases to all local media. These press releases are prepared for events which are celebrated system-wide as follows:

  • National Library Week – During April
  • National Children’s Book Week – During May
  • Summer Reading Program – Summer
  • Library Card Sign-up Month – September
  • Banned Books Week –Last week of September
  • Teen Read Week –Third full week in October

In order to support the activities of member libraries we also prepare generic press releases that spotlight specific annual celebrations that some libraries have decided to showcase at their locations. These press releases can be used "as is" when received from RCLS or by changing and customizing the copy and content as wished. These generic press releases are prepared for the following events:

  • Black History Month – February
  • Women’s History Month – March
  • Teen Tech Week – Second week of March
  • Hispanic Heritage Month – September 15 - October 15
  • Picture Book Month – November

Any library that would like to receive these generic press releases throughout the year should contact Dan Hulse at RCLS (e-mail or ext. 245).
