LIBRARY DIRECTOR Fallsburg Library Public Library within the Ramapo Catskill Library System
The Fallsburg Library, is now accepting applications for the position of Library Director for our rural library.
The position is currently available. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, however, deadline for the first pool of applicants is December 31, 2010, and applications received after that date will be considered only if a suitable candidate is not found in the first round.
Education and Experience
The successful candidate must have an MLS from an ALA accredited institution and demonstrated experience in effectively managing public library services including grant experience. Recent MLS graduates with a substantial history of working in various areas of public library service are encouraged to apply, as are successful directors of rural library systems. This is an enriching career opportunity for a dedicated public-oriented librarian. Our library is a School District library servicing a population a little over 10,000. We have 4000 registered borrowers.
The library is located in South Fallsburg, NY in Sullivan County 90 miles northwest of New York City. There is a small public school of about 1450 students. The area offers beautiful natural vistas, a hospital, and an active arts community. The newest addition to the county is the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts at the sight of the 1969 Woodstock gathering.
