New Library Catalog System
Important Information about our Computerized Library Catalog
The software utilized by our library catalog and circulation system is scheduled to be replaced during the week of December 5th. The Livingston Manor Library participates in a shared computer system used by the 46 member libraries of the Ramapo Catskill Library System. Since 2005 the library has used a system called Horizon, which is no longer being developed. Therefore, the RCLS libraries will be migrating to the Symphony software system. Both systems are made by SirsiDynix. The new system has advantages over the old one and you will find that we will be more specific and efficient in placing requests on items from other libraries; however, we will require your patience as we get used to it.
From Dec. 5 to Dec. 8, 2011, the library catalog will not display accurate circulation data, nor will it allow hold requests to be placed. During those days, all current checkouts, fines and existing hold requests will be transferred to the new system. Lists that patrons have created themselves in the catalog will also be moved.
The new library catalog will have a different look and feel, and will offer additional searching capabilities. We think you will be quite pleased with the improvements both in the library and when you search for items from home with Symphony.
