Author Presentation

Author Tania Guarino was our presenter. Her two picture books Meet the Quackers and Garden Party are must reads! Both are counting books centered around animals and the natural world.

Tania discussed the path that led to becoming an author, and the books and authors that inspired her to write.  She shared the difficulties when writing, and the successes had along with them. Tania suggested a few books that have helped her in her journey that would be helpful to those who are interested in writing children’s books:

  • Writing Picture Books by Ann Whiford Paul
  • Book Markets for Children’s Writers
  • Children’s Writers & Illustrators Market 2018: the most trusted guide to getting published

Tania has new book Frogs on the Farm, a companion book to Meet the Quackers due to come out in the fall. She also shared some of her ‘old’ books that are “waiting for the right time” to be published. You can also check her short story out in High Five magazine’s October 2018 issue.

Tania signed books which many people purchased, and was presented with a thank you gift of potted flowers and herbs.  She also joined us for lunch, which allowed for more time to ask questions and get to know her. Find out more about her at   http://taniaguarino.com/

Respectfully submitted,

Beth Balogh
