Lisa S. discussed procedures regarding their museum passes with the group. Most member libraries do have museum passes to lend. Group discussed issues and policies that go with the passes.

Cherene from Florida is a new member, received CLOUSC mug and pin. 

CLOUSC plans for 2016-2017

Professional Development-possible visit to publishing house is in the works for late winter or early spring. Randy is waiting to hear back from Scholastic. Possible visit to Morgan Library Museum or NY Public Library.

Special Projects

Updating Bibliographies posted on RCLS-send titles regarding “death” to Michelle and titles regarding “facts of life” to Joni. The deadline for titles has been extended to February meeting.


     CLOUSC Award: Joni will Chair, Amanda and Beth on committee. Joni will email group CLOUSC Award criteria and nomination form.  Deadline for nominations is before the March meeting.

      Mock Caldecott and Newbery Discussions:  Michelle shared final list with group for the Mock Newbery.  The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, Free Verse by Sarah Dooley, Raymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo, The Inquisitor’s Tale by Adam Gidwitz and Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk. The Mock Caldecott/Newbery discussion is January 9, 2017 at RCLS, registration opens on December 1, 2016.

      Y-2 Kids:  Hold the Date: April 20, 2017/ Emergency date: April 21, 2017.  Lisa K. registered CLOUSC as a group, look for email to help out at Y-2 Kids.

Group gave feedback on Fall Into Books which was held on Oct 28th and NYLA Conference-November 2-5.

Early Learning Spaces will be held on March 8, 2017 and The ABCs of Early Learning with New Directions Institute Staff on April 6, 2017.

2017 manuals are available electronically; instructions have been posted for accessing manual.

Highlight the Host

Liz spoke about the library’s pollinator garden and pizza garden; she discussed how they are used by patrons and how they tie into programs.  She also discussed her Art Afternoon program.

What’s On Your Mind?

Monticello spoke about the start of their Story Garden and chair which was made for the garden. Cornwall discussed the construction of their sundial.
