Welcome and Introductions.
CLOUSC activities for 2014-2015
1000 Books Before Kindergarten: Families who participate in Chester Library 1000 books before kindergarten keep a log of books read. Every 50 books a sticker, every 100 a sticker on the wall at the library. Began the program in April 2014 and as of meeting date 3 families have completed. When they reach 1000 they get a prize/ canvas bag that is printed with I read 1000 books before kindergarten!
Professional Development Day: Eric Carle Museum still being discussed as our frontrunner for a visit. Had previously discussed a Monday in May but the museum is closed on Mondays. Still investigating cost/ workshops offered and lunch options since there is no longer a café at the Museum.
ECLAA Training at RCLS: only a few CLOUSC members went to training. Those who attended thought the program was excellent and plan to use the information to help with an analysis of their own community to better grasp what programs and services their library should be offering to families.
Special Projects: YSTUG committee to reform- currently a job description for this committee is being created. To be continued….
Resource List: Michelle has been occasionally sending out email blasts to highlight a portion of what’s available on the resource list. Many members expressed they thought this was a good idea for both   a reminder of what’s available and to bring awareness of this sharing opportunity between libraries.

    CLOUSC Award: Ponder nominees for this year
    Mock Caldecott and Newbery Discussions: Randy looking for volunteers to view 100 picture books and vote on books for discussion
    Other Committees: “Y2Kids Careers A to Z” date set for Wed, March 18, 2015 with a snowdate of Thurs, March 19, pencil in the date with volunteering details to follow.
Sunshine Fund
$10 contribution to brighten someone’s day. Card and gift sent to Lynn Bancroft of Warwick. She left her position to attend to her new baby full time.
See SLJ November list of series non-fiction; Booklist October 2014 issue, handout of titles from Randy. Discussed several of the “easy” non-fiction series,  Many libraries put them in their Easy Reader section.
