COVID 19 Library Reopenings

Library Reported Reopening Measures
The Library building is open to the public, without appointment, Monday 10am-5pm; Tuesday-Thursday 10am-7pm; Friday 10am-5pm; Saturday 10am-5pm for browsing, solo reading and study, and access to public computers. Mask wearing and social distancing for FULLY VACCINATED people is optional but recommended for everyone else over the age of 2.
Library is open transitional hours (M - W 9 to 6 | Th 9 - 8 | Fri 9 - 5 | Sat 11 - 3 | closed Sun). Copy, fax and notary services are all available. We also offer curbside service and home delivery. Walk-up window is open during library hours. Face masks are still required for both vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors, as we pledge to keep our vulnerable populations safe. Thank you for understanding. Materials may be returned through the "Many Happy Returns" book slot to the left of the front door or at the front desk. We expect  group meetings and onsite programs to resume after Labor Day. Virtual adult and children's programs are planned for the summer, as are TakeHome Craft Kits. The Fallsburg Library is allowing for in building access for computer use, browsing and copy and fax services. In building times are still limited to 30 minutes per person/per day. Please note that face coverings are still required to be worn properly (mouth and nose covered) for those over the age of 2, regardless of vaccination status. Hand sanitizer is available for use at the front entrance.
We are still offering curbside appointments for picking up holds, as well as copying and faxing services. You can also choose to forward us emails (to fbr@rcls.org) of items that you need to have printed off if you are uncomfortable coming into the building to use a computer.

Finkelstein Library is open regular hours with no capacity restrictions.  We are still requiring masks, and requesting visitors limit their time to one hour in the building.  Computers are available in one-hour time slots.  We are fine free until July 1st.
We no longer require calling for appointments.
  • Items may now be returned inside the library. The book return will be closed when the library is open.
  • Limited public seating is available at reference tables and in the children's room.
  • The front door is open for entrance only. Patrons are requested to exit through the back door.

As of 6/1/21: We will be reopening the two study (tutor) rooms and two small meeting rooms at 50% visitor capacity, available by appointment. There will be a one hour time limit, and spacing between reservations to allow for cleaning of the rooms. Pomares Community Room will be reserved for larger in-house programs only (in compliance with all applicable health & safety guidelines).

Our pick-up window service will be discontinued on June 1st, although we will continue to provide curbside service upon request.

Greenwood Lake is now at regular hours with a one hour time limit.


HKDPL is opening for Express Service.

Library patrons are permitted in the building for a total of 45 minutes, once per day. All library patrons must exit the building on or before the exit time designated when they enter.

JOSEPHINE-LOUISE PUBLIC LIBRARY The Josephine-Louise Public Library is currently offering browsing, computer sessions, faxing, copies and other library services by appointment.  Each appointment is for in-house service is thirty minutes. Please make sure to be on time.  Curbside Service is still being offered to patrons not wishing to enter the building.  The Book Drop has been open for return items.  Free Wi Fi is available outside of the building. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 10am - 7pm; Friday, 10am - 5pm; Saturday, 10am - 1:30 pm. Face masks are required to enter the building. Sanitizing stations are located at all entrances.  Inter-library holds are limited to libraries in our area.  Please contact the library for appointments and questions (845)-778-7621.

LIVINGSTON MANOR FREE LIBRARY Building capacity limits are in effect: No more than 5 visitors at a time with a limit of 25 minutes per visit. Upon arrival, visitors must check in at the desk to provide contact information. Masks and social distancing are required for visitors and staff.

MONROE FREE LIBRARY Monroe Free Library is open on a full schedule and will offer curbside service if requested.  All programming is virtual only and community rooms are closed.  There is no limit on browsing time, however, computer use is limited to four workstations.  There are two spaces for reading or relaxing.

Curbside pickup continues and bookdrop remains open for returns.

NEWBURGH FREE LIBRARY The Newburgh library is providing limited access to the restricted section of the library only, access for 30 min to laptops, desk service, small new release browsing section, and notary, faxing and copying will resume in house but curb/door side will remain available well into the future.

Blind Date With A Book...5 books in a bag after you pick a genre. Just call & ask for this & we'll check them out & place a bag on the porch.

Rose Memorial Library has updated its patron hours, effective immediately. We are now open for standard library use and curbside service (by request at 845.786.2100, Ext. 11) the following hours:

SLOATSBURG PUBLIC LIBRARY - Beginning June 15, 2020 the bookdrop will be open for returns - there will be no fines.

  • Also as of June 15, 2020, curbside services will begin from 10 am - 5:45 pm Mon. - Fri. Please call the library at (845) 753-2001 to request your items.
  • As of June 22, 2020 Sloatsburg cardholders will be able to place holds via the online catalog or Gateway App.

  • As of Monday, August 17, the Sloatsburg Library is excited to announce it will re-open for patrons to browse for books, CD's and DVD's (for up to 30 minutes per visit). We will limit the number of patrons inside at any given time to adapt to NY State guidelines and all patrons (over the age of two) must have a working mask on their face to be in our building.

    While we will be open for browsing in our main space, our children's room will continue to be closed (though all our children's materials will be made available upon request). In addition, there will be no seating available and food and drink are not permitted at the current time. 

    Library computers will be available during open hours by appointment only and for a maximum of 30 minutes per day. Computer time will only be available with a reservation. There may be a limited browsing option for library materials during these appointments. Patrons waiting for computer appointments will be asked to wait outside the library. 

    The library will dedicate special hours for seniors and immunocompromised patrons admittance only. These hours are as follows: 

    Monday - Friday: 10am - 11am
    Saturday: Noon - 1pm

    Hours for the general public will be as follows:

Effective June 1, 2021
Suffern Free Library is open to the public for 60 minutes of browsing and borrowing, copying and faxing, reference assistance, and library account management as follows:
    > Monday through Thursday, 10am - 7pm
    > Friday and Saturday, 10am - 5pm
    > Closed on Sundays  
Internet computer use is offered on a first come, first served basis for 60 minutes per day per patron.  The last entry to the building on any day is 5 minutes prior to closing.  Maximum capacity is 60 guests.
Our drive-up Book Drop is open from 7am on Mondays to 5pm on Saturdays; it remains closed on Sundays.
Sunshine Hall Free Library is open to the public Tuesday-Thursday 12:00PM-4:00PM, Friday 11:00AM-7:00PM and Saturday 10:00-3:00. No admittance without a face covering. Curbside pickup is available for those who prefer it. 

Open for in-house browsing, reference, reader's advisory, material pickup, copier, wireless printing, fax, notary services and computer use. Parking lot and window pickup continue. Visitors are required to wear approved face coverings, use hand sanitizer upon entry and practice social distancing. Time restrictions and capacity limits are in place for in-house visits.

Outdoor return drops remain open 24/7.
